Our time in Moorea has fallen into an easy rhythm.  With not a lot to do on a small island, we’ve limited ourselves to one activity a day.

Taking it easy at our favorite beach park

Some days, we head to the nearby beach park – spread out in the sand under a palm tree, we watch the Polynesian families enjoy the environment, we gaze at the boats swinging at anchor inside the fringing reef, and we walk up and down the beach, pausing for a dip in the clear water.

Some days, we explore the island.  It doesn’t take long – there’s only one main road – but every twist and turn results in another postcard-worthy view.

Hiking to a lookout, we were surprised to find pine trees- it looked more like hiking in the Sierra Nevada than on an island in French Polynesia!

Lovely plumeria are a common site on Moorea

And we’ve even spent a couple of days without leaving our rental house.  Perched on the side of a hill, shaded by palms, and overlooking the lagoon, it’s hard to imagine a better spot for whiling away the pandemic.
