The end of our second day finds Madrone sliding down the 3-5’ waves with a 20kt breeze on her starboard quarter. The solid gray overcast suggests that we might enjoy a freshwater rinse later in the afternoon.

The steady wind is a welcome change from the overnight watch, which featured shifty breezes and sails slatting back and forth as the boat rolled in the sloppy waves without enough wind to keep the sails full. A happy boat means happy crew, and Madrone is definitely happier now in more wind.

All’s well aboard.
