Rain!!! As might be expected on the edge of a low pressure system, it was steadily rainy all day today. And a few of the squalls were likely what the dictionary authors had in mind when they define “torrential”.

The heaviest rain was associated with the strongest wind, of course, and Madrone was heeling so much in the 35 knot breeze that rain was blown into the tiny holes for the electrical wires at the top of our solar arch. That rain water trickled down the wires and ended up draining inside the cabin, of course directly over our bed.

Madrone has sailed in a couple of the rainiest places in the world – Patagonia and Alaska. And we’ve never had any rain find its way into the boat from those holes in the solar arch. At least until now.
